Leitz-Stahl MPV-DADS Photometric Analysis System

Before video based image analysis became popular and "leading edge", scientists used photometric (photomultiplier tubes) hardware and very early "personal computers" such as those involving the Z80 microprocessor. E. Leitz USA offered a very nice system for their ORTHOPLAN / METALLOPLAN microscopes that included a MARZHAUSER EK 32 stepper motor stage. The MPV-C photometer head was integrated into the system and all stage control functions and DC power for the low voltage lamp were included with the hardware as shown below.

Today, and EK32 stage with stepper motors and control unit is in excess of $12,000.00. Stages and controllers from Prior and Ludl are even higher. This is a new stage but the photometer and computer were our old demo unit.

This would be a great system for anyone doing low light level work on biological material or for a materials science lab wanting to digitize detailed samples via photometric methods. The MPV-C measuring diaphragm is projected into the ocular field of view and requires a Leitz "R" style trinocular tube. Our stage bracket is for use on Orthoplan or Ortholux II. We can still provide new or used Orthoplan stands with the special "R" body tube. You may just want to retro-fit the system to your existing Leitz microscope. Then again you may want to junk the computer and build your own system. It is fully operational and includes all software and documentation.
